Osprey is an excellent company. I actually own a couple of their camping/hiking packs and have had them forever - they have held up to rigorous use and abuse over the years...In case it doesn't come across in the photos, this is a really, REALLY nice pack. I am a very active real estate professional and it's important that I have my laptop/tablet etc. with me pretty much always. I'm often in the woods or up on a mountain somewhere, but I also ride a bike or motorcycle from time to time and need a good waterproof solution that doesn't make me look like a dirtbag should I have to jump in the car and roll into a meeting. This is definitely like a hybrid wet bag/backpack so your stuff is going to stay good and dry. I just dropped some serious money on a new laptop and even though I paid extra for the protection plan, I'd rather just take good care of my gear and avoid any nonsense. This pack has every bit of my confidence that no matter what activity I'm doing, my stuff will be dry, safe and secure.PROS:-Waterproof (duh)-Looks expensive, and by that, I mean you can tell it's a quality bag through and through-Top metal buckle and other hardware (like front strap snapping buckles) are excellent quality-Comes with padded laptop and accessories sleeve that fits securely inside pack and will not jostle in motion-Water-resistant front pocket with smoothly operating zipper-Has bike-friendly attachment features (I do not ride enough to know much about them)-Bluesign product, meaning it is an environmentally conscious product (yay, Osprey!)-The black version is neutral and matches everything (the brown looks stellar too, but I haven't seen in person)-Gender neutralAs a self-professed gear junky I would not tell you this was worth the price tag if it wasn't. But, if you have been around for awhile as I have, you live by the phrase "buy once, cry once". If you are looking for a top-quality waterproof bag for biking, city commutes, or being an active professional like me - this bag should be a perfect match.

This is Osprey Metron 25L Waterproof Commuter Bike Backpack in black is designed for a very specific use. Commuters who need to keep a few things dry and safe while on two wheels. If you want a bag that does more than one thing look elsewhere. This bag looks modern and classy. It fits like other Osprey bags but is a bit longer than you might expect from a 25L. The easiest way to describe it a drybag with shoulder straps and style. The drybag aspect means you are not going to be able to quickly grab things from the main compartment. It will be a process of unrolling and fishing around in the black abyss. It would have been great to have a contrasting inside but I think that would have added weight and affected the waterproofing. The laptop sleeve is the easiest thing to get out as it is attached with high-quality magnets to the back of the bag. I think it's a great bag for a very specific purpose.

Big fan of Osprey packs - I own 3 others from them (one not pictured as a friend is borrowing it). But this Metron commuter pack is a bit, different, for me. Honestly if you’re not a serious, non-car commuter this backpack may not be for you, or at the very least its price point may not be for you. Osprey’s long standing exceptional quality definitely showcases itself in this Metron backpack - no argument about that. It has a well thought out design for the everyday rider including water-resistant body and zippers, lid lock, hook for blinking lights, and waist/chest straps. It’s also pretty lightweight for a backpack, but because of that there is pretty much no cushioning throughout the bag other than on the back. One feature I had mixed feelings about was the detachable laptop/tablet sleeve. My 15.6in Dell Inspiron work laptop fit just fine in it, and I do like how you can remove it in case you don’t need to carry any devices. But at the same time why not just incorporate a built in padded pocket instead? Also in keeping this lightweight, this backpack is not expandable. To make up for the smaller 25L capacity, Osprey made this bag long. It looks a bit goofy on my smaller 5’4” frame, but fits my 6’5” fiancé’s frame quite well. I also noticed the top of this bag gave me a blind spot when looking over my shoulders; the corners of the bag stick out pretty far from my body so that was slightly annoying for me. Didn’t seem to bother the fiancé too much though so this may be dependent on your height or how far down you let the bag hang on your back. Also - if you don’t care for or need the roll top closure, the flap does have a simple magnetic closure too. But, this also makes it easier to access contents for pick pocketers.Overall this is another exceptional Osprey product and its design definitely intrigued me, but in the end this Metron pack just isn’t for me and my occasional work trip that I need to carry multiple devices with. This is definitely meant more for those who need a serious water-resistant, lightweight pack they can depend on daily outside in the elements. Beautiful pack, though.

After trying this bag for a 7 days road trip. There are few comments in my mind. A lot of detail they design are actually working for me very much. There is no pocket in the bag except one protection bag for tablet or small laptop. The bag can be taking out but it will take some time to put it back because there is two customized hook to keep them in the spot. I do like this design because the laptop will stay in the center and not moving around when walking. Also, the bag is very deep and can really store a lot of stuff but it's better to organize with some small storage bag first because it can be hard to find your stuff. One thing I noticed is the bag can always stand because of the bottom design which I think it's a great feature. It will be very painful if a long bag kept falling when it's sitting on the floor.Another small useful feature is the magnetic lock if you don't want to use the hook but it can only be used if the bag is not that full. The only pocket of this bag is the one in the front and I think it's a little hard to use because it's tight and not that easy to open and close with the zip. Other than that, I have to say it's a really good quality bag with many thoughtful design.By the way, the airy mesh design in the back made it even better and comfortable to carry it for a longer time.

I hate to say it, but this is the first Osprey pack to disappoint me. And at first it didn't. It's straightforward and simple in terms of design, but has the quality of construction I expect from Osprey. The interior isn't overly subdivided, but the laptop pocket is nice and secure. The huge rolltop opening makes loading and unloading a breeze (but we are going to come back to this feature...), but hasn't let a drop of rain inside. It is comfortable to wear and sits exactly where I want a biking backpack to sit, a bit higher than a hiking pack, so kudos to Osprey for adapting to that. And you feel like it's secure while riding. The size is also a good fit for biking, not cumbersome but still generous. So where is the flaw? I really liked this pack from unboxing to putting it on to riding with it. Until I had to check over my shoulder. That big open rolltop l, combined with the appropriate biking fit and position puts that corner right in your blindspot. Like, right, dead center, square on, blocking your vision. It's already dangerous to be a cyclist in an urban environment, you don't need to be craning your neck awkwardly and repositioning when you are trying to turn or change lanes or just make sure that you are clear to enter an intersection (right of way isn't something cars always respect and I will be dead while they're just replacing a fender). And it's not like I ride in some extreme tuck or have a short neck, but it really obscures my vision. So, if you mostly bike trails or just low traffic, perhaps you won't mind as much. But for a bike billed as a commuter pack, it feels like something the design team needs to reconsider in the next version.
