Kiwi knives are fantastic - sharp and precise. Very happy.

I am so appreciative to have found this brand of knives. As long as you hone them before use they are nice and sharp and a pleasure to cut with. Nice and light too. Don't put them in the dishwasher. No wood in the dishwasher. I can't believe my mother-in-law doesn't know that after living 70 years on this planet.

I really love this knife despite a couple of flaws.I bought these Kiwi knives because Kiwi products tend to be extremely sharp and low in price; I got 3 of the knives because that is how many were in the deal.Right out of the package they will slice a piece of paper slick and fast. The same is true for fingers, so watch out when unpacking these knives and using them for the first few times. Do not let kids or people who are a bit uncoordinated use these knives because they are so sharp.I have quite a few upscale Global knives but I often find myself picking up my Kiwi knives instead of my Globals when I am cutting items that require very sharp and thin blades in order to produce thin slices of meat, veggies, etc. It also cuts tuna steaks and other meats with a very clean cut without creating torn, rough edges. This knife is a bit too long (about 4.5") to qualify as a paring knife, though I do use it that way from time to time. These would also work as steak knives (see notes below). I do use my Global knives when cutting anything heavy like a butternut squash. The blade is strong but so thin that it will bend slightly if pressed flat against the cutting surface; this might help with filleting a fish or skinning a fillet, though I don't use mine for that purpose because I buy my fish already filleted at the grocery store. If I ever lose one of these knives I will just replace it, and will probably keep one of the 3 knives as a backup and give the 3rd knife to a friend. The down side of my relationship with these knives involves 3 design/manufacturing flaws that could easily be corrected by the maker:1) The handle is made of wood that does not seem to be fully sealed against water penetration. Not water as in being in a dishwasher, but water splashed around the prep area and landing on the wooden handle. (I never put any of my knives in a dishwasher.)2) The knives arrive with a little paper label with the Kiwi name attached with adhesive to the wooden handle. Unfortunately, when the label is pulled off or falls off, some sticky adhesive remains behind and is hard to remove.3) Unlike many or most Kiwi knives, these knife blades are attached to the handle with rivets that protrude above the surface of the handle, making the knife somewhat uncomfortable to use. These rivets are not a deal-breaker, but they definitely do not count as benefits.Bottom line: The negative points noted above are far outweighed by this knife's sharp blade and low price. I don't know that I would gift these because of the negative points I mentioned, but in my daily use of the knives for home cooking I am finding that the negatives don't interfere with my cooking process; indeed, I use this knife almost every day. And did I say these are wicked sharp?
