This is a great option for an Arduino or SBC in an industrial application where a hat/shield cannot be used. Evaluated this converter on a P1AM PLC where the TTL uart pins were exposed, but it was not possible to install a traditional Arduino shield. Used this to bring in the Uart pins and convert to RS485 so we could use Modbus RTU on the controller. The only potential issue for some applications is the power supply is 3.3v-5v, so be sure this is available as this converter will not take the traditional 24VDC control power.

I've got some devices in my home automation network that use RS485 communications (Modbus) - this makes it so I don't have to make my own hardware interface to manage that with my controllers.Easy to deploy and easy to use. It's isolated which is requisite for this kind of stuff.Not sure what else to add. If you know that you need an RS485 to TTL converter and don't want to make one yourself, this is exactly what you need.
