I bought these because a slightly less expensive brand gave me false positives. These swabs appear to be significantly more reliable and less likely to generate false positives.I tried a head-to-head test with city water, suburban water, and distilled water that I made myself with a home distiller.With the other swabs that are activated by water, I received a positive result from both city and suburban water. This occurred just by dipping the swabs in the water prior to testing for lead. Both city and suburban waters turned strongly pink and the distilled water remained yellow. The residue in the distiller was also strongly positive for lead with a strong magenta result.With these swabs, which are activated by white vinegar, all three waters remained yellow and there was no indication of lead.I also tested various non-ferrous metals with known compositions such as brass, bronze, and copper. All were negative, as they should be, with these swabs.With the other, water activated, swabs, several samples of these metals were falsely positive.Both types of swabs were strongly positive with known samples of lead.These swabs are accurate, according to my testing.

Deze gekocht omdat we veel verf moesten verwijderen in ons huis. We vermoede dat er lood in zat dus geprobeerd met deze wattenstaafjes te testen. Heel duidelijk was het resultaat niet waardoor je eigenlijk alleen maar meer onzeker bent. Hetgeen wat je juist wel wilt.

Lo compré para ver si unas sillas metálicas pintadas llevaban plomo. Probé primero con algo que sí llevaba plomo y lo detecta perfectamente.

Die an mich gelieferten Teststäbchen funktionieren nicht. Um eventuelle Anwendungsfehler auszuschließen, hab ich unter verschiedenen Temperaturbedingungen getestet und unterschiedlich lang gewartet. Die beschriebene Färbung in Senfgelb nach Hinzugabe von weißem Essig hat sich erst nach Stunden eingestellt als die Wattestäbchen schon wieder trocken waren. Mein Versuch ohne diese Gelbfärbung die betreffenden Lackoberflächen zu testen hat auch zu keinem Ergebnis geführt.

These were the best price on Amazon, and with prime delivery are even better. They're easy to use, there's 30 swabs, and they provide accurate lead detection. I've tested 2 areas of paint; a doorframe and a bannister. The doorframe (old gloss paint underlayer) contained lead (see purple swab in pic) the other didn't. To test the paint, I pulled loose bits off to test the bottom layer. Worked a treat and results ready in 30 seconds. Be aware though, they require white vinegar on the swab prior to the test or it won't work. Glad I had some in already, because I didn't pick up on that when I read about them. Don't risk your health scraping or using a heat gun to remove old paint, test the area with these first using these tests to see if you need to take more precautions.

Artikel hatte kaum die eigentlichen Inhaltsstoffe auf den Tupfern, ich habe das Gefühl, nur normale Wattestäbchen gekauft zu haben. vielleicht hatten nur 2 in der ganzen box genug material zum funktionieren. Grenzwertiger Betrug.Für das Testen von BLEI würde ich etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit auf die Qualität erwarten!!

Einen Stern vergebe ich, weil dieses Set nicht für Keramik geeignet ist. Ich weiß nicht, wie gut für andere Materialien ist, weil ich es nicht ausprobiert habe. Ich gebe es zurück.

I got these to test my brass as common alloys can have high lead contents. They work as expected. On alloys I expected to contain lead (360 brass alloy), they turn distinctly purple. On other types of brass they only turned orange, so I don't think lead was detected. Tip: if you're looking for a positive control, solder is a good source of lead and turns the test purple almost instantly. The yellow/orange colour seems to fade after a few minutes, leaving the purple more obvious.
