First off, this is so well padded that a 40mph baseball won't hurt. My boys are absolute sluggers at kid pitch. The reason is padding. Chest padding is a must as well. Kid pitch at the 7 to 10 range is wild. Nervous kids won't swing.The elbow pad itself is thick, well covered, easy to put on and take off, and feels like a sleeve. My 7yo was hit in the arm and it took awhile to get his confidence back, if I had this elbow pad he would of been fine. He is now far more brazen at the plate. There are cheaper pads, but they don't offer the full protection or the quick put on this does. The price is without a doubt worth te money.The youth fits my 70Ibs 7yo and 85Ibs 9yo perfectly. Both have large arms for their size. 8.5in for the 7yo and 9.5 for the 9yo.It's a snug elastic sleeve with velcro straps. Everything is of good durable quality.This IS a must. An absolute must.
