I use this to balance my lights on a C-Stand. The counter weight works better than a sandbag and is more elegant. The unit is designed to work with just about any type of stand that needs to be balanced, but for photographers, sound engineers and video producers, it's primary value is that it's very stout and can balance a very heavy light even though it is relatively small. It is also very affordable for the utility it offers. Highly recommended.

Nicely coated; great, useful shape; and did I mention heavy? Oh, yeah....

This is compact, heavy for its size counterweight. Initially, I got this to use on a boom arm on my c-stand. However, the boom arm for my c-stand was bit too thin to have this securely mounted. I realized that I could use this instead of the sandbags on one of the c-stand legs to balance it and take up less space. This is also super handy when balancing tripods when using the center column horizontally. This is very versatile counterweight that can securely balance lighting equipment or camera on a boom. Recommended.

I prefer having this counterweight overhanging a sandbag. This is a great value for its functionality. I highly recommend it if you're booming off a C-stand.

I have been overall impressed with a lot of the recent pieces of Neewer gear that I have added to my kit and this 4kg counterweight is no exception. First off, it can be had at a price point that is far lower than any of the other counterweights I already own. It has always been shocking to me just how expensive a simple chunk of metal with a clamp on it can be from some brands. The second advantage it is has over my previous weights is the fact that is has the great red plastic laminate completely encapsulating the weight. For all the money I spent on previous weights, they are just rough, bare metal with a quick coat of paint sprayed on them. Third, it just works as a counterweight on my boom arms. I will admit that everything is not perfect. If I had to nit pick, the screw on the clamp does not operate very smoothly. It is not cross threaded but requires different levels of force depending on which position in the rotation it is in which is very strange. It is just not as smooth and quick to adjust as my other counterweights. However, that is my only issue so far and one that I am willing to adapt to considering the cost savings of this compared to my other counterweights. These are a great value if needing them for your studio work.
