This cable/stud finder is very useful.I was a bit confused at first, because the scan/calibrate button isn't mentioned that clearly in the manual. So I was using the device without ever calibrating, and it wasn't working well. That was my fault.Once you turn it on, and calibrate, it works very well.It even lets you know how far you are away from the stud/wire/metal, which is very useful. You can take very precise measures with this device and never drill or break a wire or line again, it's very helpful during construction.

Delivered in a compact retail carton, this detector seems to be working, but is perhaps not the best choice for concrete, or masonry, walls 🫤With a fully plastic body, the detector feels fairly sturdy, if quite plasticky. It is powered by a 9V PP3 battery, with access through a battery door on the backside.Three strips of Velcro (the soft side) are on the back, and do a good job at protecting walls.A good-sized, and backlit, LCD screen is on the front, along with power and mode select buttons. The scan/calibrate button is on the left side of the 'handle' segment. To use, power it up and select the detection mode (wood, metal, power lines). Then, place it on the wall, before pressing the scan/calibrate button.Important! Keep the detector from moving until the bar has moved down, and you hear a beep! After this calibration is finished, just slide the detector around on your wall until you find a stud, or power cable!Unfortunately, our apartment has concrete outer walls, and masonry inner walls. As such, it is not working correctly 🙁For example, where we know that a metal bar is running through the wall (I have the broken drill bits to prove it 😅), the detector sometimes shows a very slight detection, and sometimes shows nothing at all.The same for power lines; either it does not see them at all, or gives an intermittent detection.Just for the fun of it, I tried putting a piece of metal, and an extension cable, behind the door of our Ikea wardrobe. After calibrating it on the door, it seems to be detecting them fine, so I guess the issue really is with our walls 🤷🏻♂️Priced at 22€ (at time of writing), this inexpensive detector is built to its price point.Though it seems like it should work on some walls, I would unfortunately recommend against it, if you have concrete, stone, or otherwise masonry walls.
