I got introduced to the wonders of Japanese stationary when I was living in Japan. I teach now, and basically, I got tired of my binders falling apart after only a semester or two of use, so I decided to go back to Japanese-made products. Compared to the stuff sold in the US, it is so much more durable and dependable. I’ve been using this one since nearly the start of this academic year to keep a daily planner and it still looks almost new.Now, there’s one big caveat here, and that’s the rings. If you want to put in your own class rosters, syllabus, readings, or whatever (as opposed to buying pre-punched paper), you will need to buy a Japanese hole punch as well. Now, the 20 rings will do a much better job preventing wear and tear to the pages you insert, but I could understand if someone doesn’t want to buy a $30 hole puncher to accompany a much cheaper binder.

This is a great bang for your buck, as I know for a fact this was less than $20 and if bought separately it would easily be close to $30, and I now know B5 is better than A4 because you can fit so much more paper, so it’s like you can essentially write more since the A4 slide binder can only fit like 40 sheets compared to 100 for only being like a 20% larger sheet of paper (don’t quote me on that that was a rough estimate). Plus the paper compared to what I had before Sarasara is much more bleed resistant which is nice and I honestly like the matte roughness of the paper because when I use a really smooth pen or something on really smooth paper it just like feels slippery smooth which isn’t very great, so this shikkari is amazing. Great for my 5 college classes that I’m taking so yeah and will and already has gone through a lot of mileage since I’ve already used paper from the second packet.

The binder is made of a rigid yet thin plastic, making it lightweight while still protecting the papers inside. It includes several thin plastic dividers and an index page for organization. A few sheets of paper are provided in the back, but you'll need to add your loose-leaf paper (B5 size). It features 26 rings and is easy to open, thanks to a convenient bottom slider that releases all the rings at once—no risk of pinched fingers! The color matches the image perfectly (purple), writing on the paper is very smooth.
