I was a bit skeptical about this thing at first. It looks cheap and is so small I had my doubts about it working well. I may have been wrong. By all accounts, the remote shutter release works on my camera and does most of what the ad copy says that it does. I say "most" only because I have not tested the range beyond about 20 feet and because I have not used it long enough to assess how robust it is. For the money, this remote is a good buy.

This is the easiest to use remote. I was using it a few minutes after taking out put off the box. We use it for self portraits and work portraits. I use it with my canon 7d. The directions were well written, by a human rather than AI. It’s nice too because it uses normal easy to find batteries . Now I can’t wait to take more pictures!

I'm not sure what the longevity of this unit will be because it is so lightweight and cheap feeling. The plastic seems very flimsy and not solid at all.With that said, in my initial testing, it works well. This unit comes with 2 cables to enable it to work with the 2 different Canon connections. The receiver works well as a wired remote, with or without power. While I have a Canon remote switch, this feature is not likely to be used often. As for the wireless capability, the 3 modes are very useful - single shot, 4 second timer, or bulb. I've been using the built in 2 second timer, but this may change my shooting habits a bit. With the 4 second timer on this remote, I can essentially have a 6 or 14 second delay if I combine it with the camera timers.After the initial test I can recommend this item, although the price is a little higher than I would like. I reserve the right to change this judgement after some use.

I can see the R50 isn’t listed in the description of the remote, but it’s listed in the title so it’s getting 1 star for being misleading. If you’re going to have multiple products that aren’t compatible under the same title, maybe don’t include the compatibility in the title at all. This product is useless to me.
