This is one of the best drawing sets I've come across - great for someone just starting out. It has quite a comprehensive collection of sketching mediums. We have a budding artist in the family who was absolutely thrilled with this set. I believe this to be good value for money and would make a wonderful gift.

This drawing set arrives in a printed cardboard box as pictured in the product images, which measures approx 37cm x 19cm x 1.5cm.This would be easy to wrap and make a nice gift for an aspiring artist.It is NOT suitable for younger children as it contains a knife, so please keep away from little ones.Inside the box, the contents are laid out in a plastic tray which is not very practical for keeping them in so you'll need a pencil tin or case to go with the set if the recipient doesn't already have one.The set contains a good selection of 14 graphite pencils, from 12B to 5H (B makes a softer darker mark, H makes a harder, lighter mark), 3 black charcoal pencils, 2 white charcoal pencils, 4 willow sticks, 3 graphite sticks, 3 paper blending stumps in different sizes, 3 charcoal sticks, 1 vinyl eraser, 1 kneaded eraser, 1 art knife, 1 double hole (for 2 different sizes) pencil sharpener, 1 sandpaper block, 1 pencil extender and 1 eraser brush pen.This is really well thought out range of sketching tools, although I would have liked it to include some white chalk rather than the 2 charcoal pencils, which just needs some paper to give anyone who likes to draw in pencil/charcoal many many hours of entertainment.I do use a lot of professional drawing materials and these do not feel truly professional in quality, but they are certainly decent enough for pretty much anyone wanting to draw.I would have given it 5 stars as the price seems fair enough for what you get, but the packaging in carboard instead of in a plastic or metal case really lets this down and makes it feel much cheaper than it would otherwise seem.

Since I enjoy sketching now and then, this "KALOUR PDAS 39pcs Drawing Pencils Set, Professional Sketch Pencils (5H-14B)" seemed like a good way to refresh my dwindling sketching utensils and maybe even inspire me to sketch more often.I ended up working on an old unfinished sketch, and was very pleased with the quality of the pencils as well as the overall variety of must-haves that are included in the set. The pencils performed very well, and the only very small issue I found was with the paper blending sticks, as the paper would end up shedding more often than I expected on the largest one. However, there's a little brush included in the set, which makes cleaning the small debris bits up as well as with the eraser.I do plan on making room in my sketch utensils box to empty out the original tray, as sliding the plastic tray in and out of the paperboard sleeve/box isn't sustainable. I did go take a peek of the cost of this set, and am very surprised at what a fantastic value that this set is, given the quality, selection, and well-thought out supplies included. This kit comes with much more than I've seen in other sets.The pencil extender is neat and great for when you get down to the nubs of your pencils. There is a pencil with a brush on the back, which is brilliant.I have started a new drawing course, and this set will be great as it has graphite and charcoals, in pencils and sticks. The sandpaper block is handy.The packaging is a bit flimsy, and mine arrived with some of the pencils popped out of their spots. I ended up cutting the plastic tray into three sections so I can stack them for storage. I will probably look for a cigar box to store them in.A thicker cardboard box would have been nice, especially for the travel.The value appears to be excellent considering the wide range of tools, ad the inclusion of things like the pencil extender which help you get the most out of those tools.

This is a pretty comprehensive graphite pencil set which includes both black and white pencils. There are different tools included, including a soft rubber and a hard vinyl erase, as well as a pencil extender, which I've not seen in many other sets.As such, this is perfect for beginners or for anyone who wants to draw on paper or canvas without being restricted to just your ordinary HB and B2 pencils. I wouldn't really consider this for children, as any sensible person would look at this set and consider that this is for adults or people with a serious passion for drawing. There is an art knife included, but that's just your typical tool for sharpening charcoal pencils.As which this is really good value for money and can easily accommodate for artists and their projects. There's nothing particularly wrong about the kit but you'll need to factor in your needs and budget.
