Dieses Gebiss ist eines aus "Sweet Iron".Das bedeutet, dass das Gebiss durch den Speichel einen dünnen und süß schmeckenden Oberflächenrost bildet der die Speichelproduktion fördert.Er SOLL also Rosten (andere Bewertung hier schimpft weil das Gebiss Oberflächenrost hat).Die Verarbeitung ist Sauber. Keine Kanten oder so.Ein absolutes Standardgebiss und alles passt.Bin zufrieden.

This is not a very well made bit but there is one thing to be said for it, it really is an Olive Head snaffle. There are bits offered for sale on the wider internet, as well as on Amazon, which call themselves "Olive Head snaffles" but they are actually Eggbutt snaffles. The difference is the manner in which the mouthpiece attaches to the rings.In an Eggbutt snaffle the mouthpiece terminates on either side in raised cheekpieces. These are hinged on the rings. The cheekpieces rotate laterally on the rings but cannot move vertically around the circumference of the rings. In a Olive Head snaffle the mouthpiece terminates in raised cheekpieces, although nowhere near as prominent as the Eggbutt snaffle. The rings are circular and the cheekpieces can move both laterally, and (definingly) they can also move vertically.The Eggbutt snaffle mouthpiece, not moving around the rings, means pressure on the mouth is more consistent; which may help with horses less sensitive to bit pressure. In contrast, the movement of the Olive Head snaffle allows more flexibility, allowing the bit to move in the mouth and potentially distributing pressure more evenly. This may give a softer, more forgiving contact.The cheek pieces in both types of bit are intended to prevent pinching of the mouth. In a plain snaffle there is gradual wear between the ring and the hole in the mouthpiece. The hole becomes larger, potentially introducing a sharp edge. This shouldn't be an issue with the Eggbutt but may be with the Olive Head. The edge can cut the gum while the larger hole can pinch it. A combination of filing and sanding can get rid of the sharp edges and bit or cheek guards can be employed to prevent pinching.My problem with the Olive Head snaffle I received is it arrived with a large potentially pinching gap on both sides. The top and bottom of the very short cheekpieces are also rough. Plus one has a small hole from a casting defect. As the bit is stainless steel I have to wonder why it was not polished. Even at such a low price I cannot recommend this bit.
