This found the plates in my hand, and my jaw. Found some buried stuff in the garden as a test of depth. Easy to setup, lightweight, a lot of fun to play with with friends.Take it beach combing, take it to the park (ask landlowners permission first!

This is actually my second metal detector, my first was a real starter kit that worked well and was simple to use. I was a bit anxious to get a more expensive one but the opportunity came along so i got this one.I have to admit, getting a box with 'The first metal Detector for every beginner on it did make me thing this would be another basic device despite it's price tag.The second poor impression was how it was presented in the box. I posted a photo, I know less packaging is a good thing but for over £200 I expected things not to be loose in the box!However i followed the instructions on the video rather than the box to assemble and it went together without a hitch. The head part is much bigger than my original detector and has a better pick up of course. this one is about the size of a serving plate (ask your mum) much bigger than a dinner plate in any case.It's quite light and easy to use one handed and to sweep without much fatigue.Inside you get a trowel and earphones as well. the Earphones are a must if you don't want to stand out when using it.Performance, well I have only just started to use it and it's certainly a step up from my previous with good detection at pretty deep ranges. It does get confused sometimes - beaches particularly and is sometimes a bit off with item sizing but overall it works well and the display is the same type on the cheaper model so learning curve is lessened as you know most of the operation already. If this is your first one, it is pretty intuitive and picking it up won't take long.These metal detectors generally are quite pricey and all look similar, this one seems good at what it does and is certainly a step up from my entry level. Certainly worth a go if you are getting more serious about metal detecting.

I have taken the DD90 Professional Metal Detector out to put it through its paces. It has a large 14-inch coil that makes it an efficient detector that can cover a large area and to a good depth (13 inches).The back-lit LCD display is large and easy to read.This appears to be aimed at the American market - the various coins on the display are dime, quarter, dollar, etc. This does not affect the performance in a practical sense as it detects the different metals in the coins. It also picks up silver, gold, aluminium, zinc, foil and iron.I found it useful to test it out at home with various coins, jewellery and metals to familiarise myself with each category and the correlating sounds and alerts.This detector is packed with features - junk exclusion, particular metal exclusion, pinpoint feature and depth guide.It is light, considering the large coil, and is comfortable to hold for long periods.The only slight negatives are the included headphones, which are basic and the shovel which is small and ineffective. Other than that, this is an excellent bit of kit.I haven't found any treasure yet, other than some old bullets and the odd few pennies, but hope springs eternal!
