I recently got a ceiling fan on Amazon (actually TWO) that both had the same issues with the mounting/hanging bracket. First they were made of stamped metal with a welded strap joining the two mounting "legs". The legs were a little too far apart, such that the minimum distance between the mounting screws would be about 3.5". However, my US-style ceiling box that's SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR CEILING FANS has mounting screws about 3.25" apart. Finally, the slotted holes for the mounting screws were so wide (measuring across the slot) that even the wide-head mounting screws could slip through the slot.For all these reasons, I ordered this mounting bracket to replace the original one. This seems to solve ALL of the above issues. It's sturdy cast aluminum, the mounting screw slots will accommodate 3.25" screw spacing, and the slots aren't as wide as the old ones, so I won't need to add washers under the screw heads to keep them from slipping through.I do need to confirm that the remote control receiver will still fit between the mounting legs of this bracket but it appears that it'll be fine. I'll update the review if there are any such issues -- or others -- that I encounter. So far, I'm encouraged.
