If your on a budget for an engine rebuild, this is a great alternative to taking it to a machine shop. No it is not the same thing, but it will get you by in a pinch.

Works awesome, followed directions on the box and was very easy to use. Using 10/30 oil, coating the cylinder and tool liberally, using the lowest speed on the dewalt. Using a fast in and out motion with a quicker pace for the last 3 seconds or so, got that nice 45 deg cross hatch pattern. One ball was missing from its wire so I cut that wire off flush, as to avoid any scoring of my cylinder walls.

Bought this to rebuild a LS 5.3L. 5 seconds in each hole on low speed. Perfection!

I was worried about the size as the 3.78 inch bore of the 5.3 is on the edge of the range listed for this product. It did a great job and I was very happy with the results. I used motor oil as lubricant and did about 10 in out passes. Make sure to go slow on rpm and fast on the in out to try to get the 45 degree cross hatch.

I have a 3.625” bore, so went as advertised oversized, bought the 3.75” tool. Actual diameter is 4.1” and doesn’t fit.
