These fruit feeders are simple but very sturdy. Love the stainless steel construction. Will definitely hold the fruits I will be feeding and hold up the birds that will inevitably sneak bites. You will need some kind of hook or chain to hang these. I'd recommend an ant well (like you get for hummingbird feeders) so you don't have to deal with ants so much. It will be a couple months before I can really put these outside and see how the butterflies like them but so far, I like them.

What a whimsical kind of thing: a butterfly feeder. New to me! You get two shiny metal “feeders” that you put soft or rotting fruit into and hang in the backyard. Butterflies are attracted to the sugar of the rotting fruit. I’ll have to wait a few months to try it out, but I’m psyched.Three quibbles: There are no written instructions included with the feeders. Sure, it’s easy to shove some fruit inside the feeder, but where is good place to hang them up? I’m sure that that the rotting fruit will also attract other insects, including bees and yellow jackets. What’s to be done about that? Finally, the feeder designed for bananas is perfectly straight. Perfectly straight bananas? Oh, come on!I’m looking forward to experimenting with these; if they work as advertised, I’ll be pretty happy with the butterflies. I won’t be happy if all I get are bees and squirrels.
