I used 2 of those to build a counterweight for a 10" dobsonian telescope, about 700g total mass.They are strong enough, however once wrapped in plastic tape to avoid scratching the tube, the friction becomes too low and the weight slides with gravity. Switching to paper tape solved the issue, just the right amount of friction while still being able to move the weight along the tube to adjust balance.Heavier weight might require more magnets.
