Just as smooth as can be. I also own an Aldebaran so no this isn’t my first rodeo. At $20 more than the SLX MGL 70 why wouldn’t you get it? I actually bought a second one and my dad ordered 2 as well after seeing them in person.

My first bait caster, and paired it with a Shimano Xpride B 6’10 Med Fast Action. Awesome set up. Reel feels nice and intuitive to use after several casts, and when paired with the pole? Forget about it. Nothing but positive things to say

Overall I'm very pleased with this reel. For the price and what you gets its perfect. Definitely a high end reel for a rod in the 200-400 dollar range. It's smooth and cast lighter lures with ease. I paired it on a 6'10" med Expride and couldn't be happier. Just added a second one to my Zodias 7'2" med light and it cast 3/16oz swimbaits perfectly. I use 15-30 braid only. 20 is the sweet spot for all around but 15lb braid will spool off without question.
