Ett fräsverktyg som inte huggerUtan går mjukt o kontrollerat och samtidigt tar bort mycket material. Bra verktyg bara lite för dyrt.

I'm working on a job where I'm removing and replacing about 400 lineal feet of baseboard and installing new black baseboard. I want to cope the inside corner joints and by my count, I have 28 of those inside corners to cut and finish.45 Degree miters never work properly, walls are never square or plumb and wood trim moves around with humidity changes. 45 degree miters will result in visible gaps on inside corners, especially with black trim work. I don't like or use filler and I want tight joints that won't ever pop open - coping is the only proper choice.Coping a complex baseboard can be a real pain to cut properly and quickly and many finish trim installers use simple trim profiles for exactly that purpose - make the cuts with a cheap fret saw, slam it in and get the job done. Not me.This carbide bit was powered with a Foredom TX flexible shaft tool and using a power miter saw and a Japanese back saw, I had the ideal setup for quickly and accurately carving out the complex profile of the trim I'm using (see the photos). I am able to create the coped profile you see with those tools for each inside corner in about 5 minutes. The top curve is nearly impossible to cut with a fret saw - I tried. This little carbide bit cuts the top round profile perfectly and works well on the flat areas as well and it's a LOT faster and more accurate than using a hand fret saw. The nice part about this carbide bit is that if it loads up with wood that slows down the cut, I simply burn the wood debris out of the bit with a propane torch (manufacture recommended technique) and the bit is clean and ready to go.The photos are test cuts I made before I began installation and that's fresh black paint for emphasis to show the trim profile. I used a coarse carbide bit which is the perfect balance of speed and control in the white pine trim work. Hope that helps!
